3 Great Loves Initiative

The General Synod of the United Church of Christ has invited all the congregations within the denomination to join together to share in a two year program called "3 Great Loves." This initiative focuses on Love of Neighbor...Love of Children...Love of Creation. Congregations will share their own stories of how they do that, as well as networking on ways to do even more. Each focus has an opportunity to a denominational wide event.

The Council affirmed the commitment of Spring Creek to this initiative. The first focus is Love of Neighbor. Now through the Spring we will share our stories of loving our neighbors through our various community outreach programs we partner with as well as joining together in a book study during the Lenten Season entitled, The Third Great Reconstruction: How a Moral Movement is Overcoming the Politics of Division and Fear, written by Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II.

More information will be forthcoming on Spring Creek's local website and Facebook page in the coming weeks and months. A link is also provided on this page for the national initiative on the United Church of Christ's website.

Below is an example of one of the ways in which we at Spring Creek United Church of Christ have embraced "love of neighbor."

Thank you note from Rock River Valley Pantry

Executive Director, Kim Adams-Bakke, wanted to thank the congregation for our recent gift to the Rock River Valley Pantry. The gift will be used to purchase pasta and rice for distribution to their clients.

Kim also shared the following information concerning this important ministry:

Did you know that the impact of hunger can have a lasting effect on people, particularly children? Kids who regularly struggle with hunger can suffer from long-term development, both physically and mentally. However, by providing these kids and their families with nutritious food today, we're giving them all a chance for a brighter tomorrow.

This is just one of the ways that Spring Creek UCC loves our neighbor and loves the kids of our community. Thank you!
