Heaven on Earth

Heaven on earth landscape

"Heaven on earth." Have you ever used that term before? What does heaven on earth look like to you? What are the surroundings like? What is required of you or others?

This past Sunday during worship perhaps you got a glimpse of it. While Tom was playing music while we were at the prayer stations or in our seats meditating, I was "engulfed" in the beauty of the moment and in the music. I was also moved by the stories told during our "Dorcas Day Show and Tell time" when people shared the handcrafted items they made or were given and how the theme of the day about the good works and charity of Dorcas' story was woven into the fabric of our stories. Yes, it seemed like a piece of "heaven on earth to me."

Some others have suggested the term, "heaven on earth," is an expression referring to a physical place..."the paradise of the afterlife or heaven as it is described in the book of Revelation."

We may not know with certainty what the heaven of the next life is like, but sometimes we encounter an earthly experience that seems to give us a taste.

This Sunday we will be looking at the book of Revelation and to John chapter 21 and verses 1-6 to consider living between the promise and the fulfillment.

I want to thank again those whose handcrafted items were woven in to the altarscape, as well as your stories were woven into my soul. From the responses we got back from our Facebook post of the message and altarscape picture from around the country, it spoke to others as well.

Hope to see you Sunday in worship as we seek "heaven on earth."
